{"id":137,"date":"2015-07-17T16:40:30","date_gmt":"2015-07-17T16:40:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/new.yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/?page_id=137"},"modified":"2015-07-17T17:57:36","modified_gmt":"2015-07-17T17:57:36","slug":"jamestown-ny","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/our-previous-travels\/chautauqua-2014\/jamestown-ny\/","title":{"rendered":"Jamestown NY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Jamestown \u2013 Babalu Cafe then Street Basketball \u2013 Street Jam<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We ate lunch at a delightful little breakfast &amp; lunch diner called\u00a0Babalu Cafe. \u00a0Good sandwiches and a delightful staff. \u00a0While we were chatting they told us about the Jamestown Street Jam which was under way that weekend. \u00a0The city paints dozens and dozens of half-court basketball courts on the downtown streets and 400+ teams compete in 3-on-3 play. \u00a0There are divisions for both men and women plus various age groups in a round-robin championship playoff. \u00a0Of course there were street vendors &amp; lots of folks around to cheer on their favorites. \u00a0It was fun to watch, and Judith only had to restrain me a little from joining in \u2014 but I didn\u2019t see an \u201cover 60\u2033 category! \u00a0Oh well!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fenton House<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After leaving downtown we stopped at the Fenton House, a museum dedicated to NY Gov. Reuben Fenton and Jamestown in general. \u00a0Many rooms of period (ca. 1863) furniture, as well as displays from the civil war period; progress on their archaeological digs on the site, and a section devoted to the Underground Railroad (which the Fenton House was a reputed part). For history buffs like us, it was great.<\/p>\n<p>We will visit the Robert H.
