Some visitors at the Refuge commented that the Rookery at High Island was active and exciting. \u00a0They sure were right! \u00a0Great Egret, Snowy Egret, Roseate Spoonbill, Neotropic Cormorant, Double-Crested Cormorant….<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Of course, there are ‘gators in the water — which discourages raccoons and others from stealing the eggs from the nests — and there are hundreds and hundreds of nests!<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Some of the egret nests already have eggs in them! \u00a0 \u00a0<\/p>\n

Note the nest building material in his beak! <\/p>\n

The Spoonbills seem to be courting. <\/p>\n
