{"id":3901,"date":"2018-10-31T01:21:11","date_gmt":"2018-10-31T01:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/?page_id=3901"},"modified":"2018-10-31T01:21:11","modified_gmt":"2018-10-31T01:21:11","slug":"seattle-portland-and-beyond","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/facebook-pages\/seattle-portland-and-beyond\/","title":{"rendered":"Seattle, Portland, and Beyond!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large.jpeg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3803 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1613\" height=\"1080\" srcset=\"http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large.jpeg 1613w, http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large-150x100.jpeg 150w, http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large-300x201.jpeg 300w, http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large-768x514.jpeg 768w, http:\/\/yourpcgeek.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/DSC_1263-2-Large-1024x686.jpeg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1613px) 100vw, 1613px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>After leaving Jasper we made our way to northern Washington State, about an hour north of Seattle.\u00a0 This was our jumping off point to visit the San Juan Islands.\u00a0 We were amazed at how much agriculture occurs on the islands, but not amazed at the beautiful waterfront and cute town of Friday&#8217;s Harbor:<\/p>\n<p>We visited the English Camp on San Juan Island.\u00a0 These islands were disputed territory between the American and English governments from the Anglo-American agreement in 1818\u00a0 until final arbitration by Kaiser Wilhelm I granted ownership to the Americans in\u00a01872.\u00a0 \u00a0The two sides nearly came to war in what is known as &#8220;The Pig War&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>We also visited Lime Kiln State Park, reputed to be a good place to see Orca Whales.\u00a0 Didn&#8217;t see any whales, but did see several Black Oystercatchers, dolphins playing off the coast, and beautiful scenery.<\/p>\n<p>Another day we drove the North Cascades Highway from Sedro Wooley to Winthrop.\u00a0 Beautiful!<\/p>\n<p>Then we moved to south of Seattle to visit Mt.
