Touring around Lake Chautauqua — 6-28-2014

Off to a late start (aren’t lazy Saturday mornings great!?!)  Started toward “Panama Rocks” —  a private park & hiking area with very good reviews.  However, as we saw the exit sign for Mayville, we decided to detour to investigate Mayville.  It’s a small town that traces it’s history back to the earliest days of European settlement in the area.  more …

Bemus Point 6/15

Bemus Point is approximately at the center of this long, fairly narrow lake, and is at the narrowest point in the body of the lake. It has been a transportation and business hub since the very early 1800’s. One stately old hotel is still serving guests after 134 years!  There are restaurants, marinas, and a “Floating Stage” where bands, musical performances, etc. occur every week-end of the summer.  more…

Roger Tory Peterson Institute – 6/7/2014
