Our First Trip – the plan

August 19, 2015 — The countdown is approaching the “zero hour”!  The Solar System is working & so is the Composting Toilet!

Mark will end his “full-time” work on September 30; on October 16, Judith will start two weeks of vacation before her official retirement date.  We plan to “pull out” and start our adventure the next day, October 17.

We will first head south, spending a day or two around Charleston, SC, to see what is fun and interesting to see there.  Then we will continue to Winter Haven, FL, (arriving about the 20th for 10 days or so) to spend some time there with Barbara, Clint, Allison, et al., and to see some of the other sights we have missed in central Florida.

Then we will head to the Florida panhandle for about a week to visit Fran and investigate that area.

Then it’s off to Livingston, TX, to become REAL TEXANS.  We will get our Texas driver’s licenses, and take care of the other business that will make Texas our legal home.  We will also be near Zac, Magda & David (in Houston) and not too far from Don & Wendy (in Dallas).  We will attend the Escapee’s RV Boot Camp to polish our RVing skills, investigate that area of Texas, and have Thanksgiving with the Family.

Then, it’s off to Casa Grande Ruins and volunteering starting about the first of December!

Here’s our tentative route — 3332 miles:

To Casa Grande

  2. Omg! What a wonderful adventure for the next 1/2 of life! And you have it so well planned! You did great research. It sounds like a ball-seeing family and hopefully us in FL-we’re on east coast south of Jupiter. We’re in palm beach gardens, Fl. Plz let us know if/how we can see you. I’ll drive to meet u somewhere. Then going to Texas-better buy cowboy boots! I Love that you’ll be guides. I’ll tell you our famous NH guide story when I see you! No plans to go to AZ but if we get there, I’m coming for YOUR tour! Not sure what interpretive tour is-can you explain? It sounds wonderful!!! Didn’t see this blog/email before today but want to be included in all! Good luck w RV-since as you may recall, I got sick on JCC bus…it may not be the best mode for me…but sound like fun! Imagine showering while driving down 95! Congrads to you and mark on retirement!!! Love, carol and jack
